In the Studio With…
Since the last update, many exciting things have been happening at Visible School, and especially at Visible Media Group! Read on to hear about recent releases from the label and future releases!
The Fall 2009 semester of Visible School will see the release of a new 2-Disc collection of intimate and corporate studio worship, featuring student-led worship and even some of your favorite Visible Media Group artists. Look for this new album, The Visible Music Experience, later this year. Also coming this Fall, an all-new Christmas album, featuring new studio tracks from Visible Media Group artists Autumn Fox, Jerod Wilson, Battle Victorious, and newcomers Carolina Story. Look for that to be released in conjunction with the Visible Music Experience album.
Now, a bit about the current releases out from Visible Media Group! Jerod Wilson released his EP, WILSON on February 21, and it is available at shows now! The EP includes three new tracks, “God of Everything”, “O My Lord”, and “The Secret Place”. A little bit about Jerod Wilson from Visible Media Group: “Jerod Wilson is a man of purpose. In a world filled with rock star egos, overly produced walls of sound, and slack songwriting, Wilson is a breath of fresh, crisp air. This innovative songwriter brings a quirky, indie approach that leaves listeners taking a few moments to reflect upon the twists of life, love and friendship.” www.myspace.com/wilsonrock
Battle Victorious released their first full length album, Hello, on January 23, and is available at shows and through their myspace now! Featuring the songs “Shallow Talk”, “Alive In You”, “Wars Go On”, and many more! A little bit about Battle Victorious and Hello from Tony Cummings, reviewer for Cross Rhythms website:
“Despite their name, which sounds like a heavy metal band, and their insistence to call themselves “rock” rather than the more pejorative “pop”, this husband and wife duo now based in Memphis have succeeded in making an exceptionally good acoustic-tinged pop album. Todd and Emily Marriott have a winning way with wistful melody and on occasions, like the eerily haunting “I Am Everyone”, create top rate alt pop anthems. Todd’s arrangements, often underpinned by his acoustic guitar, are neatly executed though the capper is Emily’s attention-grabbing voice, a tremulous sound that resembles a cross between Julie Miller and Leigh Nash. They are no slouch in the lyric department either, the opener “Shallow Talk” as perceptive a putdown of the tendency to swap clichés and platitudes instead of engaging in real communication as you’re ever likely to hear. You’re going to be hearing these guys on Cross Rhythms radio and, once Mike Rimmer interviews them in Nashville, reading about them on these pages. So get in on the ground floor and investigate one of the freshest new acts to come out of the vast pool of independent releases for quite awhile.” www.myspace.com/battlevictorious
Lastly, Autumn Fox is currently in the studio working on her debut album, so be on the look out for new music from her in the not so distant future! More on her and that album as soon as we get it! So get excited! A little on Autumn Fox straight from Visible Media Group:
“Singer/songwriter Autumn Fox is on a life-long journey of self-discovery – having traveled through Idaho, Philadelphia, Atlanta and finally settling in Memphis. Autumn has found that stop-starting through this maze of life is difficult, leaving it’s fair share of bruises, but the reward on the other side of a dramatic twenty-something year pilgrimage has provided her with a deep knowledge and tenacity. Overwhelmed with the passion to document the past decade and to share the experiences and work that the Father has done in her, the process began in the spring of 2008, preparing her first full-length musical release. Inspired by Otis Redding, Van Morrison, Ray LaMontagne and Joni Mitchell, this project is reminiscent of the soulful spirit of 1950’s Motown, with a current folk/rock voice. Each song gives witness to the hard-fought battles of life, encompassing the reality of a heart searching for its home. Listeners taste the variety of flavors in her music that reflect the rooted, organic strength of Autumn’s heart and soul. Whether you’re driving down the highway or groovin’ at home, keep these tunes on repeat and let go of life’s often overwhelming intensity. With strong writing, intimate guitar, and lithe vocal styling, Autumn’s message will journey with you and bring a peace that passes surface understanding.” www.myspace.com/autumnfox
